Metro Vancouver Transit Police (“Transit Police”) is the leader in regional public transit policing, operating across 22 communities. Responsibilities


Reporting to the Supervisor IMS, the Quality Review Reader performs a review of all Metro Vancouver Transit Police operational files. This position reviews occurrence files for investigational content and quality to ensure proper investigational procedures have been followed and evidentiary requirements met, and to ensure the completeness, currency and validity of Police Records Information Management Environment (PRIME), Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) scoring, JUSTIN, Digital Evidence Management and Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) records. This position manages the addition and removal of entries, and advises members and other staff of system capabilities and policy and procedural changes. Provides feedback to members regarding file deficiencies and recommends further investigational action required to ensure compliance with policy and procedures. Completes transcription for Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) to create General Occurrence (GO) reports in RMS and concludes files to set retention. The Quality Review Reader also makes Crown Counsel submissions and updates CPIC from JUSTIN after hours. Ability to transition to changes in policy and procedure within the Department as well as outside agencies (i.e. Canadian Centre for Justice Statistics) and maintain the full lifecycle of files including purging. This position will also support duties such as Master Naming Indexes, audits, and workflow reviews.

Qualifications


Grade 12 graduation or equivalent, OR an equivalent combination of considerable related experience in a police department and training courses related to the position. Requires 3 years previous experience working in a policing environment and must be familiar with the Criminal Code of Canada and other applicable Federal and Provincial statutes enforced by Metro Vancouver Transit Police. A further period of up to one year in the job is required to become familiar with departmental methods. Must be good at making sound decisions.

Recruitment Process: An applicant will be required to demonstrate their suitability for this position by meeting the minimum level of qualifications and experience in order to be invited into the selection process. A standard interview format will be used including general, scenario and behavioural descriptive interview questions.


Please note: An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.


Once in the process, testing may be used to confirm this suitability and all internal applicants will be required to obtain a pass mark of 70% on each component of the testing to demonstrate a minimum level of proficiency in the position.
