Discovery Children's Centre is looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, teachable Child Care Assistant to work with our team. Discovery recognizes the importance of connecting children with nature and the meaningful inclusion of all children. We are looking for staff to work with children ages 1-12.
· Full time position
· Monday to Friday (hours of operation 7 am-6 pm)
· Salary starts at $17.04-$17.17(40 hour course will need to be obtained within first year of employment)
· Eligible candidates must have;
· Current First/Aid/CPR
· A clear Child Abuse and Criminal Record Check (with vulnerable sector)
· 40 hour Child Development Course (Would be an asset)
· Strong English and communication skills
· Positive behaviour guidance techniques
· Must work well in a team environment
*Must be able to work in fast pasted environment
*Must be flexible, able to adapt quickly to change, and possess the ability to take initiative.
· Will be able and willing to work with all children ages 1-12 years in an inclusive setting.
*Must love being outdoors
· Will be able to lift weights between 20 – 50 lbs.
*Must be willing and able to work
