TEMPORARY EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANT - THERE IS NO GUARANTEE OF THE DURATION OF THE ASSIGNMENT
Educational Assistants provide support to students to achieve success in academic, behavior, social, life skills and co-op situations. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, Educational Assistants contribute to the learning development and integration of all students by creating a safe and supportive environment.
Educational Assistant positions can be physically demanding positions. Position requirements may include, providing students with assistance for toileting, diapering, feeding, lifting, transferring, positioning and mobility as required. Educational Assistant positions may rotate through the school to meet the needs of students in multiple groupings and in a variety of grade levels.
Required Qualifications for all Educational Assistant (EA) positions :
ALL positions require a relevant university degree, or a two-year college diploma in the human services field (Behavioural Sciences - related to ABA, Child and Youth Worker, Child Care Worker, Developmental Service Worker, Early Childhood Education, Educational Assistant – Special Needs Support, Human Services Administration, Registered Nurse, Sign Language Communicator, Sign Language Interpreter, Social Service Worker, or an Ontario Teaching Certificate). In addition, the majority of positions require Behaviour Management Systems (BMS) training, excellent communication, interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and the ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team.

Special details for this position:

Required: BMS training is required. Experience working with students with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Knowledge of and experience working with behaviour management techniques and strategies. Ability to implement behaviour management plans and safety plans. Toileting and lifting are required. Knowledge of and experience working with assistive technology (Google Write and Speak). EA may rotate through the school to meet the needs of students in a variety of grade levels and the Learning Centre.

Participation in the OMERS Pension Plan is mandatory for all full-time permanent employees,

even if currently in receipt of an OMERS pension.
